My life update, march 2025

02.04.2024

Hello there, long time no see.
Last month was quite good for me, so I wanted to share a little bit about my personal life with you.

ZOSIA

The month started with a winter camp for computer science students (called ZOSIA).

For three days, there were talks, mountain hikes and general integration with other students, but also with teachers!

I know that in many unis there’s this strictly enforced hierarchy. You need to talk to teachers using their title, you have to use particular words etc. But at my uni, the barrier between students and teachers is really small, which I feel that makes talking to teachers much easier.

Soo… I gave my first talk ever on this camp! It was named “About DRMs and things like that” and it was in polish, so if you speak it you can take a look at the slides.

I don’t feel like it was great (I couldn’t really answer people’s questions well), but I also don’t feel like I completely failed.
It is a milestone for me and I’m happy that I did it and won with anxiety and stress.

There’s this ctf called PINGctf, one of my favourites honestly, organised by Gdańsk University of Technology academic circle named, well, PING.

To play this one I invited some friends from Wroclaw, they also invited some of their friends and… We won.

I can’t stress enough how great it feels to form a new ctf team, not sleep for 3 days and eventually win.

We met physically at my Uni (some people also played remotely) and had a lot of fun.
People are motivated now, so our next goal is to win 1753ctf, another polish ctf. Then there will be Break The Syntax and JustCTF…
I hope we do well at those.

RISC-V operating system

I haven’t really done a lot, but I participate in a uni project named BigOS in which I’m in charge of drivers.
Up to this point I’ve only done some reads and shamelessly stolen some code for UART and virtio-blk but you have to start somewhere right?.

Spring

Spring came, so I cleaned up my holiday house, it’s finally this time of year that I can get off the city.
I like riding my bike through villages, forests and fields, so I’m happy that I’ll be able to do that soon.

Lots of watched movies

I’m generally super unproductive, and I don’t even feel that bad about it.

In march I watched Severance season 2, Invincible (all the seasons), The Boys, Beverly Hills Cop (all parts), Look Back (anime) and probably some other things.
It was fun.

What’s next?

This weekend I’m planning to attend Linux session. Next week I’ll be playing 1753CTF and later, hopefully, I’ll write a new blog post.
Besides that I’ve got lots of uni stuff to do, so wish me luck.
That’s all for now, see you folks!
